WE NEED US

Let’s tell the truth, we need each other in our lives. No man is an island is a time-old saying. We need each other’s support, encouragement, love, care, advice and help. We need human beings in our lives. Fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, husbands, wives, neighbours, colleagues, ministers, friends, enemies are very important to have around us. This is because they all contribute to shape our lives in one way or the other. For good or bad we need to have people in our lives. Whether we are feeling good or bad we have to share it with some one. As the saying goes, joy shared is doubled while sorrow shared is halved. All I’m saying is that we all need relationships in our lives.

A relationship can be good or bad. Robert Murdock says that every relationship is either a deposit or withdrawal in your life. It’s now left to you to choose whether it will be a deposit (positive) or withdrawal (negative) for you. But the fact is we need to have relationships in our lives. We need to form relationships. After all we all descended from one source, one parent – Adam & Eve. Think about it. All through there have been people you meet who made a great impact on your life. People who told you things that changed your life forever. People who gave you help- physically, financially, emotionally and otherwise, whether you know them or not. Those you told you could when you thought you couldn’t, those who told you to do it, when you didn’t have the strength, those who told you to keep on keeping on when you thought you couldn’t go on anymore.

The dictionary describes relationship as a friendship and strong emotional connection between two people. It says relationship can refer to the way people are connected and affect each other. It can also mean a similarity or connection between people. So relationship is all about associations, connections between persons. Everyday and every time we deal with we are relating with each other. So we should learn to use our relationship in a good way. We should make our relationship beneficial to us, our fellow human beings and the society at large.

Family Relationship Dynamics

There are many dynamics that make up a family unit. While most families have their problems not all of those problems should be dealt with behind closed doors and on your own. Many families need to reach out and ask for help when issues in their lives become to big for them to deal with. Your family relationships are the most important relationships you will develop in your lifetime as they will guide you as to what to look for in other relationships you develop later in your life.

Family counseling attempts to promote better understanding and better relationships within a family. Family counseling usually involves the whole family unit, but sometimes it can be just parts of the family as sometimes a few individuals are affected more that other members. The therapists goal is to improve the interaction and attitude between family members and help them cope with specific home situations. They aim to open the lines of communication. They normally stagger the sessions seeing the whole group in one session and then perhaps seeing each member individually in the next session.

Christian counseling shares similar ideals and objectives as secular counseling except christian counselors measure most to all of the their standards by The Bible. They believe that The Bible has a lot of guidance and wisdom to live by. So when they are counseling they integrate the bible and relevant passages to help you seeking your answers and guide you to what they believe is the proper solutions. They believe that all things in the world can be helped or saved if you turn to God and The Bible.

Problems within a marriage can be very tough to deal with. It seems many couples tend to ignore problems in their relationships until they seem like they are too late to correct. It can help a great deal to have a third party to help you point out problems you are having and potential solutions to those problems. Many couples attend therapy sessions to try to rectify their relationship. Both members of a marriage have to want to improve the relationship for the counseling to be effective.

You can use a therapist finder to locate a qualified counselor or counseling clinic in your area that will cater to your specific wants and needs. Make sure you choose a therapist you feel you can trust and confide in, and also that makes all members of your family feel comfortable as well. Be prepared to be open and honest, and make sure you bring all your concerns to the attention of the counselor.
